  • ½ to ¾ cup frosting buttercream or cream cheese
  • 2 cups white candy melts or white chocolate
  • ½ cup red candy melts or red decorating icing
  • Vegetable oil or shortening optional, to thin coating

Equipment

  • Equipment:
  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking tray
  • Parchment paper
  • Cake pop sticks or lollipop sticks
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Toothpicks or piping bag
  • Cake pop stand or Styrofoam block

Method

  1. Instructions:
  2. Bake the cake according to box instructions and allow it to cool completely.
  3. Crumble the cake into a bowl and mix with frosting until the texture is moldable.
  4. Roll into 1–1.5 inch balls and place on a tray lined with parchment paper. Chill for 1–2 hours.
  5. Dip the end of each stick into melted coating and insert into the cake balls. Chill again.
  6. Dip each cake pop into melted white coating. Tap off excess and let them dry upright.
  7. Use red candy melts or icing to pipe two curved lines with stitch details to mimic a baseball.
  8. Allow to dry completely before serving.

Notes

Notes:
Don’t overuse frosting; too much can make the mixture greasy or too soft.
Let chilled cake balls rest a few minutes before dipping to prevent cracking.
Store in an airtight container at room temp or in the fridge.
