- Instructions:
- Slice the tempeh into ½-inch thick strips.
- Steam tempeh for 10 minutes to remove bitterness and improve texture.
- In a bowl, mix BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, and spices.
- Coat the steamed tempeh thoroughly in the marinade.
- Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or preferably overnight.
- To cook:
- Grill: Grill on medium heat for 3–5 minutes per side.
- Bake: Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Pan-fry: Fry on medium heat until caramelized on both sides.
- Baste with extra BBQ sauce while cooking for a sticky glaze.
- Serve hot with sides or in sandwiches, bowls, or tacos.
