  • 1 cinnamon stick optional
  • Whipped cream marshmallows, or grated chocolate for topping (optional)

Method

  2. Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat until warm (do not boil).
  3. Add the chopped chocolate or cocoa powder and whisk to combine.
  4. Stir in sugar and vanilla extract, plus cinnamon if desired.
  5. Continue stirring until chocolate is fully melted and drink is smooth and creamy.
  6. Remove the cinnamon stick and pour into mugs.
  7. Top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or grated chocolate if you like, and serve hot.

Notes

Notes:
Use at least 60% dark chocolate for a richer taste.
You can substitute brown sugar, honey, or agave as a sweetener.
For a vegan version, use dairy-free milk and dairy-free dark chocolate.
