Method

  2. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a donut pan.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter.
  5. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and stir until smooth.
  6. Spoon or pipe the batter into the donut pan, filling each mold ¾ full.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until lightly golden and springy to the touch.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Prepare the glaze by whisking powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Divide into bowls and tint with food coloring.
  10. Dip donuts face-down into the glaze. Let excess drip off, then return to rack.
  11. While the glaze is still wet, decorate with candy eyes, sprinkles, and icing pens.
  12. Let the decorations set for 10–15 minutes before serving.
