  • Butter for spreading optional

Method
 

  1. Instructions:
  2. Slice the bread roll horizontally with a sharp bread knife.
  3. Spread butter and a thin layer of English mustard on the cut sides of the roll.
  4. Layer the lettuce leaves on the bottom half of the roll.
  5. Add the ham slices, followed by the cheddar cheese.
  6. Place the sliced tomato on top, and add a spoonful of pickle relish if you like.
  7. Close the sandwich with the top half of the roll and press down gently.
  8. Slice in half if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes:
Feel free to substitute other fillings such as turkey, chicken, or plant-based slices.
Whole-grain knob rolls can make this sandwich more nutritious.
For a warm version, toast the roll lightly before assembling.
