  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp hot sauce like Tabasco or Frank’s Red Hot
  • ¼ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper optional for extra heat
  • Dash of vinegar or lemon juice for tang

Equipment

  • Equipment:
  • Non-stick skillet or griddle
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Toaster or oven
  • Spatula
  • Butter knife (for spreading sauce)

Method

  1. Instructions:
  2. Make the sauce
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together mayo, mustard, hot sauce, paprika, garlic powder, turmeric, cayenne, and vinegar/lemon juice. Adjust to taste. Chill while preparing the sandwich.
  4. Toast the muffin
  5. Toast the English muffin halves until golden brown. Set aside.
  6. Cook the sausage
  7. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the pork sausage patty for 3–4 minutes per side until fully cooked and browned.
  8. Assemble the sandwich
  9. Place the cooked sausage on the bottom half of the muffin. Add a slice of American cheese on top so it melts slightly from the heat.
  10. Add the spicy sauce
  11. Spread a generous amount of the spicy pepper sauce on the top muffin half.
  12. Finish and serve
  13. Close the sandwich, press lightly, and serve immediately while hot.

Notes

Notes:
For a more authentic version, you can use McDonald’s original ingredients if available or request extra sauce packets to-go.
Add a fried or scrambled egg to make it closer to a Spicy Sausage Egg McMuffin.
Control the heat level by adjusting the cayenne or hot sauce.
Great with hash browns or black coffee for the full McDonald’s breakfast vibe.
